About
Yaba Chic Wildlife Conservation was established in 2025 by former UK Environment Minister Zac Goldsmith to rescue, rehabilitate and rewild injured, orphaned or confiscated wild animals from the Osa region, described by National Geographic as the most biodiverse place on Earth. Costa Rica’s wildlife is unimaginably magical but like everywhere it is under threat.
YCWC operates within a larger network of protected areas of tropical forest on the edge of the Golfo Dulce, or Sweet Gulf where Humpback Whales travel each year from both the Northern hemisphere and Antarctica for breeding and calving.
At present there is much greater demand for wildlife rescue than existing organisations can cope with, and there are no equivalent facilities for many, many miles.
YCWC is led by Sandy Quiros, one of Costa Rica’s leading vets, who has overseen the building of a veterinary clinic and facilities designed for all types of wildlife, from Jaguars and Ocelots to Macaws and Anteaters. Previously Sandy worked at Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary.
